2022 Black Mamba
I decided to play around with Petit Verdot in 2013 and, little did I know, I would fall wildly in love. Although the berries are small, there is nothing trivial about P.V. This captivating, inky, and elusive wine had to have a name to match its personality. As the winemaker, I have been as mystified by the following for this wine as I am by the grape itself.
The 2019 Mamba is pure Petit Verdot and it commands your attention. Staff desciptors: Baby maker, desert rain, Kentucky Derby, evocative, satin ribbon. My descriptor: Snake charmer.
Vineyards: Sawtooth Block 64, Snake River Valley
Harvest: 10/18/2019
Barrel aged 17 months, French oak. 50% new.
Fermentation: cold soak, slow and cool fermentation, open top fermentors, punchdowns and pump-overs, pressed before dry.

Drink now or age 10-15 years or buy a lot and do both.
Our sensual mistress is back, though a bit more mysterious than last year. Give her time to open up and reveal her many layers.
Descriptors: Jammy black cherry, red raspberry, and currant provide the foreground, with baking spices and tea leaves in the background.
This wine's medium body and round mouthfeel make it a great companion to a wide range of foods.
